I hope everyone is enjoying the New Year so far. Our winter wonderland here in New England is underway -- the seasons seem to move quickly and although winter has its finer points… the warmer weather will be welcomed when it arrives.
The last couple of months have been spent leading a UX design effort on a rather interesting project. The project was developed using an Agile / Lean UX methodology (which was good) and on an insanely tight timeframe (which was not so good). We’re rather pleased with the end result, and the project has given me blog musings for months to come. For instance….…

To kick us off, Jeff LeBlanc, Senior Qt Consultant and UX Engineer, talks about his unique perspective on User Experience design coming from a background in engineering.
So, what makes this blog different from all the other UX blogs out there? Good question, and it's one I had to answer myself before I started writing this. There are plenty of blogs out on the web already where UX professionals muse about their experience in the field. I’ve read many good ones, and it’s been a bit daunting trying to verbalize what makes me think I have something unique to contribute. So, what makes my…

Dorothy Shamonsky, Ph.D., leads UX R&D at ICS. She brings skills from traditional design practices, and experience in UX design/build research environments.
I’m fascinated by the challenge of UX team collaboration, both within a UX team itself and between UX designers and engineers. To be sure, you need an effective working process to achieve good outcomes. Process methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, Lean and Extreme, each offer a generalized structure for collaborative work to occur. You can then customize a general approach to be more specific to the requirements of a UI/UX project…
To see what new UX projects ICS has been working on, come by our booth at DESIGN East September 18 and 19 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
At ICS, we’ve cultivated a cross-disciplinary UX team. To be more specific, everyone has UX skills of some flavor and everyone has at least some experience with coding. To be even more specific, some of us are designers that learned to code and some of us are engineers that acquired UX skills.
One can imagine numerous advantages with this team configuration, such as better collaboration between designers and developers and more flexibility in…
