Peter Winston

Peter Winston, Chief Executive Officer

It was at the X User Conference at MIT in 1987 that Peter confirmed what he suspected — interface design (today user experience or UX) was the future. And with that, he founded Integrated Computer Solutions (ICS). Thirty years later, thriving at the intersection of UX and engineering, ICS is a team of distinguished engineers, software developers and UX designers that creates transformational products for Fortune 1000 companies.

Peter’s instinct for what’s ahead has served him well, from his first job out of Vassar —  developing early generation software for PCs and workstations at Digital Equipment Corp — to today. As ICS’ guiding force, he leads by the mantra “inventing the future,” conceiving new solutions to high-impact problems, such as traffic congestion, cancer treatment, and connected-device security.

Peter drives innovation by pairing data with intuition, leading his team – which he considers ICS’ greatest asset and the key to its success – in developing countless modern user interfaces, connected products and touchscreen-enabled applications. Everything from agriculture equipment, defibrillators, and commercial kitchen appliances to air traffic control and in-vehicle infotainment systems for global companies like Boston Engineering, Boeing and Intel.

In 2014, Peter launched ViewPoint Interactive Solutions in response to customer requests seeking dynamic interactive experiences for marketing and sales purposes, such as trade shows, lobby kiosks and sales training. And in 2018 launched Boston UX to meet the growing demand for user experience design.

Away from the office, Peter spends time with his wife and children – preferably on a ski slope. He’s passionate about politics and heavily involved with his community and philanthropic activities in the Greater Boston area.

Mark Hatch

Mark Hatch, Chief Operating Officer

With more than 30 years of business management and software development experience, Chief Operating Officer Mark Hatch joined the company in 1995 as VP of Marketing. He conceived and manages ICS’ thriving Qt service business, as well has operational oversight responsibilities for both engineering and marketing.

Prior to joining ICS, Mark was VP of Marketing for a networking middleware company, as well as Manager of Software Marketing for Apollo Computers. He played a key role in the formation of a number of prominent industry groups, including the X Consortium and the Open Software Foundation.

He came up with the idea that eventually grew into the Qt World Summit, an annual event that brings together customers, partners and other members of the global Qt ecosystem. The first conference reflecting Mark’s influence was held in Boston in 2004. More recently, he introduced the concept of pipelining user experience design with software engineering, a product-development approach that increases speed to market. Mark earned a Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds a MBA from Boston University. He’s a licensed Extra Class Ham operator (AJ6CU) and can be found evenings on the 80m band.

Sarah Lummus

Sarah Lummus, Chief Financial Officer

Following undergraduate study at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, Sarah began her career as a registered financial consultant at both Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and EF Hutton investment groups. She joined ICS just months following the company’s launch in 1987, and held several key positions within operations, human resources and finance before becoming CFO in 1997. During her tenure she’s played a pivotal role building ICS’ infrastructure, and managing its overall growth and global expansion. Through her financial leadership, ICS today is thriving.

When not working, Sarah is devoted to causes close to her heart. She’s heavily involved with canine rescue organizations as both volunteer and adopter, and also gives her time to non-profits focused on children and education. She heads up ICS’ participation in local charity Read to a Child. In addition, she’s passionate about safeguarding the environment and spearheaded an expansive recycling and composting program at the company.
